BetMGM Invests in Responsible Gaming Research with $180,000 Grant to ICRG

BetMGM is dedicating $180,000 to the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG). This financial support will aid the ICRG’s investigations into responsible gaming and the influence of marketing on individuals who might be facing gambling challenges.

The ICRG is a highly esteemed institution that has been examining problem gambling since 1996. Their findings have been widely disseminated in academic publications.

The ICRG’s leader, Arthur Paikowsky, conveyed appreciation for BetMGM’s substantial donation, stressing the significance of data-driven research in recognizing potential risks and shaping optimal approaches for the gaming sector. He commended BetMGM’s dedication to joint efforts in informing the public, operators, regulators, legislators, and media outlets.

As BetMGM ventures into new markets, it maintains its focus on responsible gambling education. Richard Taylor, BetMGM’s Senior Manager of Responsible Gaming, emphasized that backing research is paramount to their pledge to a secure and pleasurable customer journey. He posits that this research will yield valuable knowledge not solely for BetMGM but for the industry as a whole.

Lately, gaming corporations have encountered heightened examination for their promotional tactics, especially those directed at university pupils. Wagering on athletic events advertisements, specifically, have become progressively prevalent during collegiate football matches, with Caesars Entertainment’s 2021 agreement with Michigan State University (MSU) acting as a notably noticeable instance. This pattern has ignited extensive disapproval and discussion regarding the morality of endorsing gambling to young grown-ups.
